Mens Girard Perregaux R&D 01 Watch, stainless steel case (43mm diameter, 14.26mm thickness) with see-through sapphire crystal caseback, and inverted screw-down crown and push-pieces, rubber strap with stainless steel folding clasp, black dial with luminous hands and hour markers, 24 hour display for 2nd timezone, date calendar at 6 o'clock, 52 jewel GP #33C0 self-winding mechanical movement with chronograph functions, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, water-resistant to 30 meters.
The originality of the R&D01 lies in the unusual position of its push-pieces on the left-hand side of the watch, making it very easy for racing drivers to operate the chronograph functions. At the same time, the crown, which has a smooth, curved integrated crown-shield, is positioned at 4 o?clock for easy access and wearer comfort.
The smooth, rounded crown-guard, inspired by the shape of a competition car's air intake, protects the date corrector as well as the crown. The Manufactory-made movement is visible through the shapphire crystal case-back secured with six imbus screws, of the kind used in the competition car construction.
