Primarily a man's watch until the 1980's, the Cartier Pasha watch was soon considered a much-sought after fashion accessory among women. The Cartier Pasha actually dates back to the early 1930's, when its conception was thought to have been brought about by the Pasha of Marrakech's desire for a waterproof watch. He asked Cartier to design a watch that could be worn as he enjoyed laps in his pool. This watch was actually a Tank watch, but by 1943, the Pasha watch was introduced. The Pasha watch features a large, round face, and is elegant yet solidly constructed. The Cartier Pasha comes in four case sizes (32, 35, 38, and 42mm diameters) in steel, steel and gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold on leather strap or metal bracelet. The Pasha is equipped with a quartz movement in the 32mm size, and a self-winding mechanical movement in the 35, 38, and 42mm sizes. It is also water resistant up to a depth of 30 meters.
